Subtle, but it's there...I promise.

When I'm bored or frustrated with my current state of being, I change my haircolor. I know it doesn't really fix anything. But ladies, you're with me right? Something about changing up your hair just lifts your spirits. Am I wrong?

So.

Here's my hair before:

I'm on a red kick, not sure why, but here's my hair now:

It's reeeeeally read in the sunshine. I tried to add highlights last night on my own (I'm cheap, deal with it) but unwisely decided against using a cap and tried to just "paint" them on. Bad idea. Thankfully, I realized this before the thirty minute processing time, immediately jumped in the shower and managed to end up with just a shade lighter than what I started with. Whew.

Any fun coloring stories you want to share?

  1. I totally forgot to ask about your hair today when we talked! I love it! I can't believe you did it...I Summer Solei'd my hair one summer in high school and my hair turned brittle...kind of like when you got Barbie's hair wet and then you'd go to brush it and then it would just pull down about 30 feet and then SNAP! Lovely!

Once I colored my own hair and it was supposed to be a lovely strawberry blonde. It turned out road-construction-barrel orange with random red ends, like I'd had a hair-whipping makeout session with Dennis Rodman. Truly frightening, but fixed two trips to the salon and $300 later. NEVER AGAIN. You know you have a bad coloring job when your hair wants to get its nipples pierced.

P.S. - I really, really like your hair! Texas looks good on you! Also, congrats on the fly. Next comes the chopsticks, Leslie-san.

Love the hair. I've thought about going red-ish and have never had the gall to do it. BTW, I have that shower curtain too. ;-)

    Wow. It looks great!
I once Sun-In'd my hair. Quel horreur! God did not mean for me to be blond. Funny how I couldn't figure that out by looking at my head. (Thanks for sending help along, BTW!)

  6. You look fabulous, sweetheart! Brava!

I've done highlights-at-home three times, with varying degrees of success. The best results were definitely with the cap thing, but boy was that a hassle. Don't think I could have done it without my mom's help. The first time I tried one of those paint-on combs, it came out in big chunks of color and I freaked out because my brother's wedding was less than a month away, but it actually relaxed into something that looked okay. I did a better job of distributing the color the second time I did it.

  9. I like to refer to myself as an emotional hair changer. It totally makes me feel better. However, two-and-a-half years ago, I had an experience that changed me forever. I went into a salon to get blonde highlights, and here is the final result... :(
