Do you know whose birthday it is today?...

Julia Roberts! Happy Birthday, Julia!

You know, I've always believed that since Julia and I share the same birthday, and since the Academy Awards main rep is named Leslie Unger, that I am destined to someday attend the Oscars. I've given up on the idea of winning one (Reese Witherspoon robbed me of that opportunity back in 6th grade), but wouldn't it still be fabulous to just attend? I think so.
And look what I got for my birthday...a place to live in Signal Mountain, Tennessee!
Isn't it darling? Annnnnnnd, BONUS, it backs up to a state park complete with walking/running trails and waterfalls. Uh, yes please!
In the late summer of 1999, I ventured into the first floor of McIver Dormitory, never dreaming that out of the twenty-something girls to whom I would be an RA, that one would be my Birthday Twin and a lifelong friend. Lauren ("La") and Henrietta ("Tetta") lived directly across the hall from my room and I can say unashamedly now that they were my favorite residents. From late night chats, Tetta's spot-on prairie dog imitation, dry eraser board notes, boyfriends, heartbreak and scandal, those girls were such sweet friends.

La, my Birthday Twin, lives her life with passion. I love that about her and it is what makes us kindred spirits. She is passionate about her family, her work, her friends and her faith. That last one is where I have learned the most from her. La lives her faith out loud and she was gracious enough, in my last year at Carolina, to include me in the conversation.

Happy Birthday sweet La! I hope you have a fabulous day...
