I have some new friends. Their names are Sarah, Kyle, Chloe and Haley- The Haren Family.
My new friends demanded my attendance at kindly invited me to a birthday dinner last Wednesday. Knowing that Kyle was a master griller {there was rumor of steaks being on the menu} and having heard wonderful tales of 5th grader Chloe’s baking talents {and amidst promises of my favorite traditional birthday cake, red velvet with cream cheese icing}, I decided it was in my best interest to accept the invitation.
The Harens are a shy and retiring bunch.
But Chloe and Haley soon discovered they were quite comfortable in front of the camera. In fact, with every click, Chloe may have hollered, “Is this going on the BLAWG?!?”
As promised, there was red velvet cake with a cream cheese icing so rich and buttery it would make Paula Deen proud.
I made my wish…
And soon it was going…
going…
Well. I might have taken some home with me.
The girls crowned me the birthday princess {with Chloe’s stern admonition that the tiara was strictly on loan for the evening.}
There was singing and costumes.
And really, how often do you have Lucy and Billy Ray Cyrus serenade you on your birthday?
In short, it was perfect. Thanks, Haren Family!
Welcome back!! I've missed you! ;-)
ReplyDelete30 posts in 30 days... I've said all year that November would be the best month. Really! No pressure, though!
