I think we've officially lost it

We're doing it again. We're taking the leap and adding another four legged member to our family. Yup, we're getting a puppy. And no, Knox had NOTHING to do with fathering these pups! We probably wouldn't have even considered this if it weren't for the fact that we're moving out to the country and will have the biggest yard ever. Plus, I really feel like Knox needs a buddy to help him explore all his new surroundings.

How we're coming by this puppy starts out sad, but has a very happy ending (as long as he takes to crate training.) Some mean, heartless person dumped their pregnant dog in a field near my in-law's house. My mother-in-law, Cammie, aka Rescuer Of All Things Animal, spotted her in the field and brought her back to the house. A few days later this sweet, docile dog (whom we've dubbed Sugar) delivered five healthy pups.

We know Sugar is part Heeler and we have no idea what kind of dog the father (or fathers, as Cammie suspects) was/were. The pups resemble Heeler, Black Lab, and Rottweiler. So basically, your classic mutt. Wanna see?

This is Sugar, the mom. Isn't she sweet looking?

Here's the whole gang...

And here's our little guy. He's the one at the top with the white nose, white racing stripe on his head, and a white spot on his neck. You can't see it, but he has white and black spotted paws (just like a Heeler's coloring), and the cutest white tipped tail.

Now, these pictures are actually from mid-March. The pups are SO much bigger now, running around, wrestling. Our little guy is very sweet and calm. Just like Knox did as a pup, he likes to snuggle up to my neck. On Jason's birthday I spent over an hour with him napping on my chest. He already likes to chase a ball, nudging it with his little nose or falling on top of it with his pudgy little body.

It will still be a few more weeks before we can bring him home, but we have got to find him a name. We've already paid homage to our favorite teams with Knox Hill. I have to confess, I don't have a clue what we're going to name him! Suggestions are more than welcome. Encouraged even. Ok people, help me name this dog.

P.S. Are you freaking kidding me with the "Idol Gives Back" finale?!?! Let's have some church up in here!

  1. I think "Xonk" would be a great name. Get it? It's Knox spelled BACKWARDS!

So cute, that little guy. I'm sure he and Knox will have a rip-roarin time of it in the country. I've got little to offer in the way of names - I'm partial to classics - Spot, Lucky, etc. According to The Preppy Handbook, you should name your pet after some sort of liquor (like Brandy, Whisky, etc.), so I'd say maybe Boone, Bartles, or Jaymes. :)
