I wonder if I can make a reservation there...

As a general rule, Jason and I have shared grooming duties when it comes to Knox Hill. We have both given him numerous baths (although Jason's preferred method is to put on his bathing suit and just throw Knox in the shower with him) and we have even attempted to trim his nails ourselves from time to time. That effort involves lots of treats and usually ends with one nail accidentally being cut past the quick. Which means doggy blood. Which means this Southern Drama Queen usually puts off the nail trimming for as long as possible.

When we lived out at The Country House, Knox was outside most of the time and got dirty enough that he needed a bath at least once a month, maybe twice. Wide open country plus four other dogs around him plus multiple burrows to dig/wallow in equals one dirty dog. Here at The Mountain House, however, Knox is inside a good deal more than before so I feel that I can confess without guilt that he has not had a bath since November.

And he doesn't smell. Promise.

So I decided on Sunday that Knox was due for a little cleaning action. My Google search uncovered a local gem, The Ark Pet Spa & Hotel. Their basic package was more than I'd usually spend on Knox's grooming. Ok, it was more than I would spend on a haircut for myself. But I figured he was due for a little pampering.

Well, that and I had no desire to nasty up my tub and soak myself from neck to waist in the wrestling match that is bathing Knox.

Here's what The Ark's basic grooming package includes according to their website:

- Warm Hydro Spa Bath
- Nails Clipped
- Feet Trimmed
- Thorough Ear Cleaning
- Gland Release {I don't even want to know...}
- Fluff Dry and Styling

When I called to schedule Knox's appointment I discovered that the package included one more feature...

An Aromatherapy Facial.

Now, I don't really notice a difference in his pores, but that facial did wonders for his fur.

And I'm thinking we have a headstart on his Halloween costume for this year.

  3. We have a little chihuahua, so she can easily be washed in the sink, but that sounds like a great deal for Knox. Have a great week.
    Love & blessings in NC!

  5. The top two reasons that I fail as a blogger are that:

    1) I will go weeks without blogging.
    and,
    2) that I read but never comment.

I'd love to say that's all about to change (sigh..maybe someday!) but I feel the need to emphasize AGAIN that we must be kindred spirits. Because your dog is the cutest thing I've ever seen...and I'm reading Julie & Julia right now too. :)

    I hope you're having a lovely week!
