Home

I am home.

Safe and sound after a hilarious ride with two twenty-something guys who helped with program this week. Look, it was either them or a bus full of middle school kids.

I'm pretty sure I made the right choice considering the conversations that occurred in that beat-up, bestickered minivan. One such discussion went a little something like this...

Colt {a twenty-two year old video/tech genius currently sporting a vintage green cotton military jacket and a red bandana around his forehead}: So, guess what I gave up for Lent.

Me: I have no idea.

Colt: Just guess!

Me: Colt, I'm never going to guess. What?

Colt: Girls.

{Hysterical laughter from me and Jonathan, the other twenty-something guy who was Jason's program cohort this week.}

Me: Um, Colt? Were girls that big of a problem before Lent?

Colt: Well, yeah. Kinda. And now these two stalker girls apparently didn't get the memo that I gave them up. Kind of a problem... But, it's actually made my stock go up!

Me: Yes, of course, because you're unavailability makes you all the more attractive.

Colt: Whatever. I plan on surfing this wave as long as it will surf!

Have I mentioned that I am soooooo glad that I'm married already?

So I'm home. Savoring the bliss of the quiet around me. Gearing up to watch the UNC-Gonzaga Sweet Sixteen game on the TV right now. Ridiculously excited about sleeping in my own bed tonight.

And tomorrow I'll pick up my freckle-faced monster and steel myself for the moping that will follow when he realizes it's going to rain all weekend.

It's good to be home.

  1. Good to be home isn't it, though the beach is pretty darn hard to beat.
