Keeping Up

Do you use Bloglines? If you're like me, you do. Because there are over 50 blogs that I want, nay, HAVE to check every day. Bloglines keeps me organized and on one simple page, it shows me who has posted today. Which is good and very helpful. I need to see Dooce's latest breathtaking photos and read the stuff that will make me pee-my-pants laugh. I'm still waiting for Anna & Ben's account of their South Africa trip. Sometimes Stu has posted more stunning photos of Colorado. I keep up with the goings on of my Blacknall friends. Some mornings there is the post that so many people are waiting to see- like the one that told us that Emily is finally going to get her Lulu (hooray!) and it sends tears streaming down your cheeks. Or the Mindful Musing that you're still holding your breath and hoping to see. Or there is the Infinite Wisdom that Rebecca, Boom, and Spouty share that helps shape the woman, wife, and (hopefully) mom I want to be. Oh, and the kids. So many kids that I need to see grow up even if I am states and states and states away from them.

Yes, there is a lot to be found on my Bloglines. Laughter, tears, truth, images to be treasured and admired. Friends I know intimately and folks I've found through them. It is my oasis in the middle of the day, a gift always waiting to be opened, a marathon messenger that never tires.

And it's been awfully full the last few days. Post after post that I have eagerly opened and devoured. But if you use Bloglines and you subscribe to my blog, guess what you've found? Nothing. No little number 1 in parentheses there beside my name. So sad.

It's not because I have nothing to write about. I do. Like the Lord's goodness in the midst of great trial and tribulation. Like His faithfulness in lifting me from the depths of despair. I could write about the providence of jobs and the good, hard work that is found there. There is video of our silly dog to post. There are movies reviews ("Juno"- go see it!!!) and LOTS of pop culture commentary that I could be making.

So here's my promise. I'll write, and if you subscribe to me on Bloglines, I guarantee that you'll start seeing some numbers in the parentheses beside my blog title. Or, I'll write and you leave me your comments letting me know that you've stopped by. Deal? Deal.

  1. My bloglines blogroll got so big that I don't have time to check them all everyday, so I started a second one on Google Reader with the blogs I really, really have to check every day. Your blog is on that one.

    Leslie,
I love to keep up with you through your blog. I get to know what things are good in your life and what is troubling to you. I love to be able to pray specifically for you and Jason. However, you have been slow recently and I need to know what is going on, please update! Also, your writing is very impressive, I didn't realize your talent and think you should find a way to use that amazing ability. We haven't seen each other in years, but I truly feel very connected, I know all about your daily life through your blog. Now, if only I had the time to start one!
    Love, Christy Habeeb

YAY FOR LU! I'll be checking every day. You and Jason are still on my mind and in my prayers! On no other blog anywhere can I get Sweet Potato Queens, Ya-Ya, and Steel Magnolias all rolled into one. I love it!

I read! I miss when you're gone - your writing brings such wonderful things - humor, family, love, life, running, the south! I check daily (and you're on my blogroll). I'll try and write more too. Teaching takes its toll on free time as you know!
