At kind of the last minute, I decided to take a little road trip and head down to Atlanta for the live recording of Travis Cottrell's worship CD.
I've known about this event for a while but like the brilliant procrastinator that I am, put off finding someone to go with me. Thanks to the wonder that is the blogging community I am going to meet up with Becca of The Stanley Clan who lives right outside of Atlanta and knows just where this church is.
She also knows where the nearest Sonic is and we fully plan on investing in some of their famous slushees because, as she so beautifully put it, "...sometimes worshiping can make you parched." Hallelujah and amen.
In addition to Travis' amazing worship I will be seeing Beth Moore live and in person for this first time.
I'm going to be completely transparent here and tell you that my first exposure to Beth Moore was through my cousin, Sarah Jo, who was doing one of her Bible studies at the time. I watched part of the video lesson and I...(sigh)...I openly mocked Beth. I mean, she was just so...Texas. Big hair, really strong accent and over the top passionate about her Jesus. And then, because God has a such a great sense of humor, He had me marry a Texan, move to Texas and participate in several of Beth Moore's life changing Bible studies myself. I have asked the Lord's forgiveness for the mocking and I'm pretty sure that if Beth ever reads this (which she won't), she will forgive me too. 'Cause she's cool like that.
So I get to see, Travis, Beth AND I know of at least three of my favorite bloggers who will be there: Sophie of BooMama, Melanie of Big Mama, and Gayle of The Westie Crew. I don't know if I'll get to see them (although I actually met Sophie last December at Travis' Christmas concert, I can't believe I forgot to tell y'all that!) but you better believe I'm bringing the camera just in case. I am my own paprazzi. But not in a crazy, stalker way just in a "Hey, I really like you and your writing encourages me and can I get a picture?" kind of way.
I'll let you know how it all turns out.
I am jealous that you are getting to see Travis. It will be awesome!! I have been to one of Beth Moore's Women's conferences and she is an awesome speaker. So funny! You're right, some of her older Bible study videos are a hoot. She has had some BIG hair in the past, but she is so adorable now! Enjoy and have fun.
ReplyDeleteLove & blessings!
What a TREAT it was to meet you in person tonight - I had such a great time! :-) I'm still a little embarrassed about how messy my house was but oh well, just keeping it real right? Oh and sorry I rushed you out so much at the end - darn that crying baby! you didnt even get to take a picture because I was standing there with my dripping Sonic cup haha . . . hope you had a safe trip home!
