Anticipation

Last year I wrote this post.

This last week, tonight even, I am living out every hope I poured out in that post. Name tags for the desks have been made and the seating arrangement planned. The bulletin boards are covered and waiting for white paper bags that have been uniquely decorated and filled. The classroom rules have been posted. The outfit isn’t picked yet but this time around, surprisingly, it’s the least of my concerns.

If your jaw just dropped, I KNOW.

A bystander no longer, tomorrow I will stand in front of a group of kids that God has hand picked to be in my class. I will teach, I will listen, I will laugh, I will love, I will pray, I’ll probably want to pull my hair out at some point.

But I will be a teacher again. And that’s pretty much all that matters.

  1. And you'll be so tired your hair will hurt, and you won't care if you end up wearing the white paper bags that have been decorated and filled before Friday rolls around- but it's sooooo much more fun than an old office job! Have fun and a great week!

  3. what a blessing. I want to be a teacher NOW so badly...I've been in college for 2 years...I did student teaching through a high school program and I want SO BADLY to be back in the classroom. Teaching is such a passion for me- reading this post made me a little jealous I'm not gonna lie, but I'm glad you are a teacher that truly cares about her students and her God given talent. Take care of those kiddos and HAVE FUN!!!

    What grade are you teaching???

Your smile for each child that entered your classroom said it all - you were happy to see them and happy to be there. Your graciousness in allowing parents to take your picture with their child for first day memories bespoke kindness. My daughter was excited about today - especially about you, her new teacher. Thank you for making it be a good day. She looks forward to seeing her teacher again tomorrow.
