Well, at least I watched the whole thing.

Without consulting me the ACC scheduled a Carolina men's basketball game versus Wake Forest University on the same evening as The Golden Globe Awards.

Clearly, I had a dilemma on my hands.

Thankfully, we have a DVR (the generic version of Tivo) so I knew I'd be able to tape the GG whilst watching the Carolina game. It really couldn't be the other way around. I am no fairweather fan. I am a devoted alumnus and a proud Tarheel.

But I wish I could convey to you the full scope of the sacrifice I made tonight. You see, I love award shows. With all my heart. I may have mentioned this a time or two before. And I really enjoy watching them live so that I feel like I'm there experiencing it along with all the celebs.

I know. I need a real life.

But I also love my Tarheels, my boys in blue, Roy's boys. This wasn't just another game, this was an ACC game. My boys needed me there in spirit to cheer them on and yell at the officials. So, I sucked it up and rallied the pop culture lovin' part of my heart by telling it that at least now, I'd be able to fast forward through the commercials and rewind any particularly noteworthy moments.

Y'all, it wasn't worth it.

I'm not sure what's going on with Tyler and the rest of the Carolina crew but it was AWFUL. The Wake Forest crowd showed up in full force with a record breaking crowd at The Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum and they did their job and they did it well. We are now 0-2 in the ACC and that fact makes me positively nauseous. I really can't even talk about it any more...

But I have now watched the GG in their entirety. I have a lot of thoughts on the fashion, the winners, the speeches, etc. I'll have all that for you sometime tomorrow. Stay tuned...

  1. Hey Leslie Ruth! :)

Thanks for commenting on my blog! :) Actually, I think I found Mindy G. through a link on your sidebar. But, I wasn't sure, so I didn't say that in my blog. But, if it was you, just let me know and I'll add the link to your site. :)

I just started reading Twilight. I'm really enjoying it! A friend at church bribed me to read it. :) I noticed it on your sidebar today.

Hope you feel better today after the game! The Steelers had a HORRIBLE beginning to their season the year they ended up winning the Super Bowl! So, you never know! Don't lose hope! : )

  2. Here's the good news.

    In 1982...

    In 1993...

    In 2005...

    Wake beat us.

And I don't need to tell you how those seasons ended. Let's call it an omen, shall we? :)

  3. One of the saddest parts of living overseas is missing the live feeds of awards shows. *Sigh*, it's the price I must pay. :) Thanks for the lovely comment on my blog! I love bloggy friends and just switched over from a different site a few months back so I'm anxious to make some new ones! I knew we'd be friends because you're listening to David Cook in your sidebar & I'm also currently reading Twilight (but still can't quite grasp the appeal of it). Oh well...soon, maybe!

I hope you have a wonderful day! :)
